In HCV Genotype 1 Patients with Low Viral Load, Pegasys Plus Ribavirin Produces an SVR Rate Similar to That in Genotype 2/3 pts with Low or High Viral Load

In HCV monoinfection, genotype 1 patients experience high sustained virologic response rates (SVR) providing they achieve a rapid virologic response (RVR) at 4 weeks following initiation of therapy, regardless of their baseline HCV viral load.

In the current study, Douglas Dieterich and others evaluated the effect of an RVR on the probability of an SVR in genotype 1 patients who received PEG IFNa-2a (Pegasys) + ribavirin (RBV) in the AIDS Pegasys Ribavirin International Co-infection Trial (APRICOT).
