During the 48th ICAAC/46th IDSA conference new data was presented which provides additional guidance to clinicians regarding:

When to start ARV therapy.

Which boosted PIs should be used preferentially in initial therapy and whether some of the newer drugs now should be considered for use in treatment-naïve patients.

Further studies establishing the safety and efficacy of simplifying ARV therapy with a one pill, once daily regimen or using a decreased dose of ritonavir when boosting some PIs.

Several drugs in the HIV pipeline with key data indicating their progress in development.
