48th Annual ICAAC / IDSA
46th Annual Meeting

October 25-28, 2008, Washington, DC

During the 48th ICAAC/46th IDSA conference new data were presented which provide additional guidance to clinicians regarding when to start ARV therapy, which boosted PIs should be used preferentially in initial therapy and whether some of the newer drugs now should be considered for use in treatment-naïve patients. Additionally, further studies established the safety and efficacy of simplifying ARV therapy with a one pill, once daily regimen or using a decreased dose of ritonavir when boosting some PIs. Last, several drugs in the HIV pipeline presented key data indicating their progress in development.
