AIDS Drug
Assistance Programs (ADAPs), authorized under Title II of the Ryan White Comprehensive
AIDS Resources Emergency (CARE) Act, operate in all 50 states, the District
of Columbia, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.
They provide HIV-related prescription drugs to underinsured and uninsured individuals
living with HIV/AIDS. For many people with HIV, ADAPs serve as a gateway to a
broad array of healthcare and supportive services funded through the CARE Act
and to other sources of coverage including Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance.
In addition to filling gaps in prescription drug coverage, ADAPs often function
as the only source of HIV-related medications for those who are underinsured or
uninsured. Every effort is made to keep the information current. However, due
to the dynamic nature of these programs, contact each ADAP directly for the most
up to date changes.
