New Updates to Adult and Adolescent Anti-HIV Treatment Guidelines

The latest updates to the Guidelines for the Use of Antiretroviral Agents in HIV-1-Infected Adults and Adolescents have been released. The new version includes updated information on:

What to start in antiretroviral-naïve patients
What not to start
Laboratory monitoring
Regimen simplification
Therapeutic drug monitoring
Antiretroviral use in special populations
A new recommendation ratings scheme

Changes to the guidelines are summarized in the "What's New in the Document?" section located at the front of the guidelines. The changes are also highlighted in yellow throughout the text and tables.

In addition to the updated content, this revision was developed using a new format in which the relevant tables and references for each section are incorporated into the body of the document. Some larger tables are placed in an appendix at the end of the document.

The updated guidelines are available for download from the Adult and Adolescent Guidelines section of AIDSinfo. You can also order them by mail or e-mail from AIDSinfo's Order Publications section.
