Hyperlactatemia: Relative Risk Compared with ZDV/3TC-  Containing Regimens

Drug RR (95% CI; p value)
d4T/3TC 11.6 (1.5-87.9; p=0.018)
d4T/ABC 15.0 (1.4-165.0; p=0.027)
d4T/ddI 36.3 (4.6-283.7; p=0.001)
d4T/ddI/3TC 147.9 (17.3-1265.6; p<0.0001) d

• The relative risk of hyperlactatemia was compared for a number of regimens to zidovudine and 3TC.1

• Again, all of the d4T regimens had an increased relative risk associated with them.

• These data seem to suggest an increased risk of hyperlactatemia from d4T-containing regimens.
