With more than 15 years experience in publishing, community education, and HIV treatment advocacy, Dr. Baker has written and edited more than 500 articles on HIV/AIDS treatment research and treatment advocacy issues. He is a Fulbright Scholar (University of Berlin) who earned his PhD at Harvard University as a Woodrow Wilson Fellow. Douglas

A graduate of Yale University, Dr. Dieterich received his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine, and completed his internship and residency in the Department of Internal Medicine, Bellvue Hospital Center. A fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Gastroenterology, Dr. Dieterich is a member of several professional societies. He has also served on several committees of the AIDS Clinical Trials Group (ACTG) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH), including as a member of the steering committee of the Opportunistic Infections Core Committee, and a member of the Cytomegalovirus (CMV) Committee. He has also served on the NIH Study Sections for CMV and cryptosporidiosis. Dr. Dieterich has authored numerous journal articles, abstracts, and book chapters on viral hepatitis and AIDS-associated infections of the gastrointestinal tract and liver, and their treatment. He is an internationally-recognized expert on hepatitis C infection and is involved in several research programs evaluating the management treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection and co-infection with HIV/HCV. | ||||
Mack C. Mitchell, Jr, MD, Contributing Editor Top Mack
Mitchell, MD, is Director of Gastroenterology at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical
Center, Baltimore, Maryland and Associate Professor of Medicine, The Johns Hopkins
University School of Medicine. Dr. Mitchell graduated from The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and completed his internal medicine residency at Johns Hopkins, followed by fellowship training in hepatology with Dr. Willis Maddrey and fellowship training in gastroenterology at Vanderbilt School of Medicine. He has been involved in both basic and clinical research in hepatology, primarily in the areas of alcohol and drug-induced liver damage and viral hepatitis. | ||||
Marina Núñez, MD, PhD, Contributing Editor Top Marina Núñez graduated from Medical School at the University of Navarra, in Pamplona, Spain in 1988. Thereafter she completed five years training in Internal Medicine at the Clínica Universitaria in Pamplona and obtained the ECFMG certificate in 1994. She received her PhD degree in 1996 from the University of Navarra. Dr. Nunez completed a clinical fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, U.S (1996-1998). Since 1998 she has been working at an HIV reference center (Hospital Carlos III) in Madrid, Spain as Infectious Diseases specialist, where she cares for patients and is involved in multiple research projects on HIV and HIV-viral hepatitis viral coinfections. Dr. Nunez received a post-doc Degree in "Design and Statistics in Health Science" in 2000 (Universidad Autónoma of Barcelona, Spain). Currently she has a position as researcher at the Hospital Carlos III, granted by the Spanish 'Fondo de Investigaciones Sanitarias', to develop a research project on HIV-HCV-coinfection. | ||||
Graeme Moyle, MBBS, MD, Contributing Editor Top Graeme Moyle, MBBS, MD, is the Associate Director of HIV Research at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London, United Kingdom. This post involves the initiation of, recruitment to and management of HIV patients and clinical therapeutic trials, and the clinical care of HIV-positive patients at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. Dr. Moyle is a principal reviewer for the web site's Internet Conference Reports series, focusing on data concerning new HIV drug development and drug interactions. After graduating from the University of Adelaide, Australia in 1986, Dr. Moyle moved to the UK and began working in HIV and AIDS in 1988. He has focused on HIV research since 1990, working mostly at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital but also gaining experience in HIV drug development, clinical trial design and management from within the pharmaceutical industry. His research focuses include phase I/II development of new antiretrovirals, drug interaction studies, drug resistance and metabolic consequences of HIV therapy. He is a regular presenter of original research at international conferences, is the author of more than 50 peer-reviewed publications on HIV, and section editor for HIV in "Current Opinion" in Infectious Diseases.
